Temperatures drop to -15°C at night. No lodges – be self-sufficient.
Api Himal is not a standard trek – read these differences carefully.
No Wi-Fi, no charging plugs, no hot showers after Day 2. You sleep in a tent, eat off a camping stove, and use a “hole in the ground” for toilet.
Untouched trails – fallen trees, unstable streams, loose rock. No manicured paths. Previous trekking experience required.
Restricted Area Permit requires a government-licensed guide. You cannot enter Api region without one.
Must cover helicopter rescue up to 5,500m. A rescue from Darchula costs $7,000–10,000. Standard policies often exclude this area.
Winter impossible (snow blocks passes). Monsoon dangerous (landslides). Only trek March–May or September–October.
Flights to/from Dhangadhi frequently delayed. Always add 1–2 buffer days before international departure.
